One of a number of landscapes engraved by either William Wise or L T Swetnam and made by Mintons around 1885. Purpose made as a trivet and is an early example dating from soon after the designs were created and before Mintons adopted the practice of rounding off corners and tips of the edges.

The Royal Mile in Edinburgh leads to Holyrood Palace, it was originally founded as a monastery in 1128 and is The Queen's official Scottish residence. The ruins of the monastery, reputed to have been built by King David, can be seen behind the house. The house has witnessed many important events and has been used by many of the important figures in Scottish and British history and is still used today for important governmental and diplomatic events.
