One minute rim chip, mark mid left a glazed over
manufacturing flaw, some tiny losses to the
outline, light cleaning marks to the glaze. Style: Art
nouveau This is an excellent tile and an excellent
illustration of the breadth of art nouveau
design. Formal with regular lines most would
call it art deco yet it was almost certainly
designed in the edwardian era rather than the
1920s or 1930s. The company closed down in 1915
and the design although not common is seen from
time to time, I see a group every five years or
so. Other known designs from the 1910 - 1915
period are for the most part more rarely
seen. Corn Brothers are not widely recognised but
they produced a great variety of superb art
nouveau tile designs. This is a different Corn
Brothers than that which morphed in to The Henry
Richards Tile Company in 1901 but still of the
same famous family of potters. Verso very clean, embossed copyright. One tiny rim chip, some tiny losses to the
outline, light cleaning marks to the glaze.
