This is a most individual tile of unusual manufacture, entirely hand decorated and glazed in the manner of Arts & Crafts tiles on a buff plastic clay body. The buff clay body has been tin glazed, decorated and lead glazed. The decoration has been hand painted through stencils (we had four of these to compare). |

There is a chip to a back corner, apparently from prior to the original installation as there is soot and mortar residue in it, it appears as a small chip on the face top right corner, there is also small chip to the bottom edge. There is one small stun chip on a green leaf third from the right otherwise surface condition is just about perfect. Other marks are minor manufacturing imperfections, the tile is very clean and bright.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
