Half a dozen very tiny rim chips, surface is
perfect. Style: Pictorial aesthetic This tile is not often seen, a chequer
aesthetic layout with two pictures and quarter
stylised sunbursts. The pictures entitled Ye Law
and Medecine are making fun of professionals
something that appears on tiles from time to
time especially of clergy drinking and gambling!
Here we have a lawyer lecturing whilst reading
from a book and wagging his finger and a doctor
apparently taking of the laudanum and having
knocked over a three-legged stool. The companion tile Ye Church and Ye Army is
shown in Lockett on page 190. Verso quite clean, fully marked Josiah
Wedgwood etc.
