One of a series of twelve landscapes engraved
by L T Swetnam in1886 and the series introduced
the following year. An interesting mix of
decorating techniques being both lithoprinted
and block printed, lithoprint for the fine
detailed scene and block printing for the solid
colours in the borders.
Whilst few of these scenes are identified
this is known to be Splugen in the Alps from a
similar scene from another series also by
Mintons Ltd and also engraved by L T Swetnam.
The views appear to have been drawn at the same
time but from a slightly different perspective
as if a tour of artists visited and two of their
pictures were later published. Mintons in common
with other manufacturers copied most of their
landscapes from books.
Verso slight stain and a few grains of
adhesive residue, embossed name etc.
