Tiny white mark in the border upper right is a
manufacturing flaw and there's a few more all very
tiny or less, there's only a couple of minute bits
of damage on the whole tile. Style/technique: Floral print &
tint The tile has an interesting feature, a firing
flaw one of the greatest I have seen. Not
immediately obvious and the tile may not even
have been sold as a second, just right of centre
bottom edge a shirnkage flaw can be seen and
traced up to just past the middle of the tile.
Whilst rather long on the surface it is of no
thhreat, it doesn't penetrate the thickness of
the tile at all and is sealed with glaze. Interesting things factory flaws for the
convey a sense of the conditions at the time and
the constraints of the processes. I don't hold
with the notion that chips and stains add
character or charm but manufacturing flaws can
ocassionally contribute adding to the interest
and understanding and can be discussion
points.

A nice 19th century floral design,
quite a popular design. The manufacturer is
unknown, other designs by the company are known
including a few other that were quite popular
and others seen less frequently.
