Style: Gothic
Technique: Printed and painted
Designer: Augustus Welby Northmore
Pugin
Maker: Minton, Hollins & Co.
Dimensions: 6" x 30" per panel
Date: 1858 (circa)
A set of ten tiles designed by A. W. N. Pugin
and made by Minton & Co., a good bold gothic
design in colours that whilst quite lively are
very compatible with the majority of interior
design colour schemes. Rarely found especially
as authentic tiles of this date the slight
damage typical and commensurate with the age and
decorating technique.
Reputably (and I have no reason to doubt)
removed from a welsh chapel, the grip pattern
verso indicates a date of manufacture soon after
Prosser's Patent expired in 1854.
