Condition: Fine Tiny chip top right corner, other very minor
marks, very near perfect surface quite remarkable
with such relief. Style: Floral I really like this design, I've had one in my
collection for many years. A bold floral design
with a great big flowerhead as favoured in this
period, a hint of the art nouveau to come with
some of the 'lazy floral' characteristics
present in many asymmetric designs of the time.
Four colours, a rather unusual bright yellow for
the flowerhead, whilst yellow flowers are far
from uncommon very few are so large or so
intense. These would have been superb in iron
fireplaces of the times for reflecting the
fireglow, quite high relief to catch the
reflections too in the brilliantly glazes. Pattern number 24 so one of the first designs
by Henry Richards its introduction will date
from 1901, these made a little later around 1910
judging by the grip pattern.
