Top left corner broken and reglued, tiny chip
top right corner, other very minor marks. Style: Aesthetic movement A rarely found design one of it appears just
a pair both illustrated in Wedgwood ceramics by
Maureen Batkin wherein the pair are described as
"landscape tiles with the Edinburgh design".
Rarely seen as plain prints (and those I have
seen blue & white), coloured are incredibly
rare as indeed very few Wedgwood printed tiles
are found coloured. Of course coloured tiles are
almost inevitably brown prints which are sharper
and more representative of how objects appear in
real life. Great aesthetic taste with birds
looking down over the landscape vignette, the
companion similar in manner but all different
with a cottage the to the fore of the
landscape. Verso a little stain embossed Portland
Vase.
