A dramatic and brilliantly glazed pair of
tiles, Marsden produced a series of such
tiles but they rarely come to market. Another
of Marsden's unique decorative styles, quite
how it was made eludes me. There is
definitely painting, probably via stencils,
possible spraying although spray technology
was not well developed at the time, and the
final glaze finish is most brilliant. This
design was made as a mirrored pair, Marsden
made perhaps more pairs than any other but
they aren't often found, it makes a great
feature display. Versos clear of adhesive, a little grubby
and some rust stain stain, embossed Marsden
mark. Condition: Good Small corner chip, two tiny surface chips, other
minor marks. £125 (approx $169) Corner chip, four scratches, other minor
marks. £80 (approx $108)
