Bottom corners trimmed for the original
installation, only very minor marks in the passing
of time. Style: Art
nouveau A rare tile, part of a panel, the panel
rarely found in the marketplace nowadays because
the focal point flower is double width - two
tiles. Most often found as wall tiles beneath
dado rails, in entranceways and the like, these
appear to have been fitted in to fireplace
panels despite the cropped corners. There are largish but not too concentrated
rust stain to the rear indicating contact with
iron. There were iron frames made for fitting
tiles into, 12" wide, 15" wide and 18" wide for
the grandest installations, these necessarily
had crop corners to accommodate fixing screws at
the intersections. Versos embossed GWS & Co, England and
Patent and have the company's patented grip
pattern Versos near perfectly clean, unmarked. Bottom corner trimmed for the original
installation, onlt vey minor marks in the passing
of time.
