A nicely detailed engraving printed in dark brown and painted underglaze. An excellent tile of its type, not often found, I have seen it twice as a centrepiece in fireplaces paired with St Pierre, Lisieux. The market for built landscapes was dominated by Mintons however unfortunately few are found coloured, of the others seen where the design fills the tile this pair I think the best. I suspect made by Henry Ollivant and likely early for the company, around 1893/4. Verso very clean, embossed England.   Information Tiles For Sale Contacts Order Information
